Paedophile jailed for the rape and sexual abuse of two schoolgirls

A paedophile from Haverhill has been jailed for a string of sexual offences including the rape of two young schoolgirls

David Gray, 52, of Ash Grove, was sentenced to 10 and half years

Gray had pleaded not guilty to four offences of raping one schoolgirl and one offence of indecent assault by penetration between June 2008 and January 2010.

He also pleaded not guilty to four indecent assault offences against a second girl between
October 2003 and October 2007.

He was found guilty by the jury on all but one of the charges he faced.

The court heard he showed no remorse for his actions.

The offences against the two girls came to light last summer when one of the girls had confided in her mother, saying that Gray had been sexually abusing her since she was aged about seven years old.

The abuse involved Gray indecently touching the girl on multiple occasions. The court heard that the abuse had continued for about 30 months

The girl said that Gray told her it was “their secret” and said she should not tell anyone else.

At the time of the offences, Gray said he had been employed as an abattoir worker in Little Wratting.
