Carlisle man jailed for sexual activity with child



A MAN has been given a four-and-a-half year jail term for engaging in sexual activity with a child.

Daniel Lee Coleman, 30, was sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court for his criminal conduct.

Coleman had previously pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual activity with a child aged under 16.

He committed the offences in late 2013 and early 2014.

Judge Peter Hughes QC handed down the prison sentence to Coleman, of Rydal Street, Carlisle.

He is now also subject to the terms of a sexual harm prevention order, and has been placed on the sex offenders’ register, for an indefinite period.

Coleman’s case will also be reported to the independent safeguarding authorities.

29-year-old Carlisle man admits sexual activity with a child

Carlisle man has been warned he could be jailed having admitting sexual activity with a child.

Daniel Coleman, 29, had been due to go on trial at the city’s crown court yesterday after he denied three charges.

However, he changed his plea to guilty to the offences, which were committed between November, 2013,and January, 2014.

His case was adjourned for the preparation of a background report.

Recorder Michael Murray told Coleman, of Rydal Street, Carlisle, he would be sentenced later this year.

But the judge warned that all sentencing options, including custody, would be considered.
