Man who ‘targeted’ schoolgirls jailed for sexual assault

Yousaf Khan

A Wollaton man who sexually assaulted two teenage girls – who “looked younger than they are” – has been jailed for nine-and-a-half-years.

Yousaf Khan, of Wollaton Vale, admitted sexual activity with a child with coercion against a girl who was 15 at the time.

Nottingham Crown Court heard Khan contacted the 15-year-old, arranged to pick her up and took to an apartment at the Ice House in Nottingham city centre.

He tried to get the girl to drink alcohol and grew angry when she refused, slapping her across the face.

Khan, 28, then forced the girl onto the bed and sexually assaulted her, only stopping his attack when she was able to reach out and knock a drink onto the bed. He was arrested later that day – November 18, 2012.

While on bail, Khan sexually assaulted an 18-year-old who he met on Wednesday, July 10, 2013. He exchanged phone numbers with the teenager and arranged to pick her up from an address in Nottingham.

The 18-year-old was wearing her dressing gown and pyjamas when she got into the car. She left the passenger side door open in an effort to make sure he did not drive away but Khan closed the door and locked it before driving off.

The teenager repeatedly asked to be let out of the car but Khan drove to a car park at the junction of Bestwood Park Drive and Brownlow Drive before grabbing the 18-year-old, kissing her against her will and sexually assaulting her.

Khan only stopped the attack when the victim said she would call the police. He was arrested on August 6, 2013.

Khan refused to co-operate during police interviews and initially denied the charges before changing his plea five days into the trial.

Detective Constable Thomson, who investigated the attack on the 15-year-old girl, said: “His sentence reflects the fact Khan is a dangerous man who has preyed upon two vulnerable young girls.

“The attacks had a devastating effect on the two teenagers and their families but I hope the judge’s sentence will provide some comfort.”

Detective Constable Kate Fisher, who investigated the attack on the 18-year-old victim, said: “Khan targeted young girls or girls who looked younger than they are. The 18-year-old victim could easily be mistaken from a girl of 12.

“Both of Khan’s victims have been very brave and we hope it is some reward to them to see him facing a lengthy prison term.”

He was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday, July 9.
