Shame of settee-sex paedophile

A CHILD-abuser from Hucknall has been jailed for seven years for having repeated sex on his settee with a young girl.

Samuel Baxter (52), of Lime Tree Road, had intercourse with the girl three times a week over a two-year period when she was aged only ten and 11, Nottingham Crown Court heard.

A judge told him on Wednesday: “You abused her and you defiled her”.

Paedophile Baxter pleaded guilty to four counts of having sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 13.

Four other charges alleging rape when she was 11 and 12 were left on the file.

The court heard that the maximum sentence for the offences Baxter admitted to is 14 years.

Simon Eckersley (prosecuting) said the girl was blackmailed by Baxter into having sex.

“He promised to take her shopping if she had sex with him,” said Mr Eckersley.

The intercourse took place on the settee in the front room of his home.

The court heard that Baxter had a prior conviction in 1987 for having sex with a 14-year-old girl from a children’s home.

He took her for a ride in his car and they had sex on the back seat.

Ian Way (defending) said Baxter had chronic emphysema. He added: “He shows genuine remorse and has an immense amount of shame.”

Judge Dudley Bennett said it was a very bad case of its kind, made worse by the previous conviction.

The judge told Baxter: “I want to make it plain to you and others this behaviour will not be tolerated.”

When released, Baxter’s licence period will be extended by two years, the cout heard.

He will be on the sex offenders’ register for life and will never be allowed to work with children.

Man (51) admits having sex with girl under 13

A 51-YEAR-old Hucknall man is facing prison after admitting having sex with a girl under the age of 13.

Samuel Baxter, of Lime Tree Road, had been due to go on trial at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday this week accused of the more serious charge of raping the girl.

He failed to appear at court after admitting himself to hospital, meaning that the case was delayed for a third time because of illness.

Judge Joan Butler issued a warrant for Baxter’s arrest, but on Tuesday he left hospital of his own accord and attended court.

He pleaded guilty to four counts of having sexual intercourse with the girl when she was aged between ten and 11.

Four other charges alleging rape when she was 11 and 12 were left to lie on the file.

He was remanded in custody for sentence on May 3.
