A DINGWALL man caught downloading child abuse images off the internet avoided has a jail sentence after a sheriff heard he was “disgusted” with himself.
David Chambers (65) appeared for sentence at Inverness Sheriff Court and was ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work as part of a three-year supervision order. He was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for the same period.
Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood said that with some hesitation he was imposing a community payback order as a direct alternative to custody.
Chambers had previously admitted downloading indecent photographs or pseudo photographs of children at his home in Mill Street between August 1 and November 21 in 2013.
Solicitor Duncan Henderson said Chambers was married with no previous convictions and was “deeply ashamed and disgusted” with himself.
