Man used hotel internet to share indecent images of children

A man has been sentenced to more than three years in prison after pleading guilty to possessing, making and distributing indecent images of children

Brendan Terrill (aged 50) from London, was arrested by officers from the National Crime Agency’s CEOP Command after receiving intelligence from West Midlands Police that he was sharing child abuse images over the internet.

At the time of his arrest, Terrill was staying at a hotel and a search of his room resulted in a laptop being seized. Forensic examination of the device revealed a large number of category A, B and C images (A being the most serious) and officers were able to evidence that the only person who had used the laptop was Terrill. He later pleaded guilty to all charges.

Terrill will be on the Sex Offender’s Register for life and will also  be subject to Sexual Harm Prevention Order for ten years.

Matt Sutton from the NCA’s CEOP Command said:

“Every indecent image of a child is an image of a child being abused. Brendan Terrill had extremely disturbing images on his laptop, including a large number in the worst category .

“It is wholly appropriate he his now behind bars where he can face up to his crimes”.
