Pervert pleads guilty to having hundreds of indecent movies of children

A Stowmarket man today (November 2) pleaded guilty to having more than 370 indecent movies and photographs of children.

Shaun Rampling, 25, of Hill Rise, Stowmarket, appeared at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court today where he pleaded guilty to five charges of making indecent photographs and movies of children aged under 18.

Each offence related to a different device confiscated by police, with Rampling charged with having a total of 376 images.

There were 103 movies of children categorised as A, the most serious of images, while 58 movies were category B, and there were 215 movies and 191 photographs in category C, the least serious.

Rampling has been sent to Ipswich Crown Court for sentencing on November 18. The charges face a maximum term of ten years imprisonment, with the judge also able to hand down fines, suspended sentences and Sexual Offences Prevention Orders.

He has been given bail on the condition he has no unsupervised contact with children aged under 16.
