Jersey pervert jailed for making indecent images of children
A Jersey man who made indecent images of children has been jailed for 12 months and placed on the sex offenders’ register for five years.
Daniel McLoughlin, 24 and of St Helier, pleaded guilty to two counts at the Royal Court of Jersey.
He downloaded 161 videos and pictures, including some of a severe level.
He told police that viewing indecent images was “more of a compulsion” than something he wanted to do, and that he wanted to seek professional help.
While Deputy Bailiff Tim Le Cocq said he felt McLoughlin was genuinely remorseful, he pointed out that his crimes were not victimless.
Defending, Giles Emmanuel said McLoughlin had been sexually abused in his early teens by a family friend, and that he had subsequently started to harm himself and view indecent images.
The defence also claimed McLoughlin had suffered from anxiety and depression.
