Pervert jailed for sexually abusing a young girl in Tonbridge
A 76-year-old man has been jailed for eight years for historic sexual offences committed in Tonbridge.
Gilbert David Knox, 76, formerly of Broxburn, West Lothian, in Scotland, was found guilty of seven counts of indecent assault on a child following a one week trial.
Investigations by Kent Police found Knox targeted a young girl during his time living in Tudeley, near Tonbridge, with the abusing beginning in 1982 and lasting four years.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Donna Read said: “I’d like to take this opportunity to praise the courage of Knox’s victim in coming forward and disclosing details of the abuse she suffered when she was younger.
“We take reports of this nature very seriously no matter when the offences have taken place.
“Knox is now in prison where he can contemplate the consequences of his actions all those years ago and I hope this provides some closure to his victim.”
