Retired farmer jailed for sex assaults on children

A RETIRED farmer’s hidden past caught up with him when he was jailed for sexually assaulting a number of young children.

David John Owen, 77, of Weirglodd Deg in Caersws, Powys, denied a total of nine charges of sexual assault dating back 20 years, 10 years and two years.

But he was convicted and jailed for four-and-a-half years at Mold Crown Court. He was placed on the sex offender register for life and a life-time sexual harm prevention order was imposed.

Owen had completely denied that he had done anything.

The defendant’s son John Owen, 40, of Crosslikey, Churchstoke, was jailed for five months after he admitted two charges of doing acts intending to pervert the course of justice.

He had asked two complainants not to say anything if they were asked about his father’s behaviour.

He had pleaded guilty.
