Man jailed for five years for sex assaults on young girl and having indecent images of children
A 69-year-old paedophile from Chilworth has been sent to jail for five years.
Roger Lightfoot was sentenced after admitting charges of sexual assault on a female aged under 13.
Lightfoot had also pleaded guilty to making indecent photos of a child prior to his sentencing at Guildford Crown Court last Friday (November 20).
“Mr Lightfoot was arrested and interviewed,” said prosecutor James Dennison.
“In the course of the search that had taken place, the various images were uncovered and he was asked about what had been going on. Complete denial of the allegations was made.
“A suggestion is any indecent images that were on his electronic equipment, they were certainly not there with his consent.”
The indecent images found on Lightfoot’s computer were said to be in category B and C, the latter being the lowest level of seriousness.
Passing sentence, Judge Stephen Climie said Lightfoot’s explanation on the face of it was that his inappropriate interest in children led to the sexual assaults.
The judge said: “I take into account your good character, your age and the fact on the face of it, and according to probation, your acceptance [of what he had done].”
Lightfoot, of Chantry Road, was sentenced to a total of five years in prison for the offences, which included:
Two counts of sexual assault on a female aged under 13
One count of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a girl aged under 13
Five counts of making indecent photographs
One count of distributing indecent photographs.
