Staplehurst man jailed for sexual offences against children
A paedophile from Staplehurst who sexually assaulted a young boy and downloaded indecent images of children has been sentenced to four years in prison.
Timothy Withey, 47, pleaded guilty to making indecent images and two counts of sexual assault on a child.
Kent Police’s paedophile and online investigation team executed a warrant at his address in Market Street in Staplehurst on August 4, 2015.
As a result of the investigation into indecent images that Withey had on his computer, a boy came forward to police and said he had been sexually assaulted by Withey on two occasions, in 2008 and 2012 when the boy was 8 years-old and 12 years-old.
Withey was charged with making indecent images and two counts of sexual assault on a child after he was interviewed by police.
He pleaded guilty to the offences when he appeared at Maidstone Crown Court on December 16, 2015, and was sentenced to four years in prison on June 29.
A sexual offences prevention order was also granted and Withey must also register as a sex offender.
