Paedophile sentenced after sexually abusing young girl

A paedophile that repeatedly abused a young and vulnerable disabled girl has been jailed

Mark Douglas Young, 31 of Blyth, Northumberland appeared at Newcastle Crown Court where he pleaded not guilty to a string of sexual offences against a child.

However, after a trial which lasted three days, the jury found him guilty of:

  • Three counts of sexual assault with penetration on a child aged under 13

  • One count sexual assault on a child aged under 13

  • One count of intentionally causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity

The court was told that Mark Young who worked at Nissan in Sunderland, sexually abused the 11-year-old girl a number of times during two days of perverted behaviour

Young groomed, took advantage of and abused the girl who was disabled, suffered from cerebral palsy and had a learning disability.

The victim was 13 years old when she spoke out about her ordeal and it was reported to the police. Her evidence was given by video link.

The court heard that during a police investigation, the victims sheets and mattress were taken away for forensic analysis.

However, this could not be used in court as evidence due to Young admitting that he had previously masterbated over them

The judge sentenced Young to a total of 13 years and told him that he must register as a sex offender for life
