A ‘monster’ paedophile has been sentence to a total of 22 years for rape and multiple indecent assaults.
Karate teacher Lee Martin, 46, was described by one of his victims, now a grown man, as a “monster”.
Martin was convicted after a trial at Nottingham Crown Court.
Judge James Sampson, who sentenced him, said he sexually abused two boys when they were teenagers.
“Both of your victims came from an unhappy, dysfunctional home,” said the judge. “You were well aware of that.
“When they met you each were beginning a life of petty crime, alcohol and drug abuse. Each in his own way was a vulnerable young man. They were susceptible to be plied with alcohol. You took advantage of their vulnerabilities and you groomed and corrupted them.”
The man, who was raped twice and repeatedly indecently assaulted as a boy, said in a recent statement read out to the court “I have been afraid for years and kept a horrible secret.”
And he said: “I want justice for what this monster has done to me and the impact it has had on me for the rest of my life.”
Of the second rape, the judge said Martin, of Denewood Crescent, Bilborough, threatened him “with his life if he told anyone”.
“Each of your victims has suffered psychological harm. Each from adolescence into adulthood; describing feelings of shame, personal disgust and of suffering on a daily basis as a consequence of your abuse of them. Their suffering was plain to see when they gave evidence.”
The second victim was repeatedly indecently assaulted.
Martin denied the boys allegations and maintained to police he was “straight and celibate”.
Sarah Knight, prosecuting, had told the jury the issue in the case had been a simple one – did these sexual acts happen?
“The defendant maintains that they are concocted complaints, and all the complainants are lying about him”.
Martin, who denied all the charges, was convicted of 14 indecent assaults and two rapes. He must now sign the sex offenders’ register for life, be subject to a sexual harm prevention order and will be barred from working with children.
