Man described as a ‘lonely figure’ arrested in front of parents over child abuse images
A man was arrested in front of his parents at their home after being caught with child abuse images.
Andrew Wilkins, 43, who was described by his lawyer as an isolated figure, was caught by the National Crime Agency investigating people downloading indecent images.
Cleveland Police officers raided the family’s home on October 19, 2015, where he was present with his mother and father.
He gave them his email user account and his tower computer was seized.
Prosecutor Rachel Masters told Teesside Crown Court that Wilkins had 36 images at the most serious level Category A, 69 at B and 217 at C.
Wilkins, who had no previous convictions, gave no reply to all questions put to him.
Wilkins, of Foxton Drive, Billingham, was given an eight months jail sentence suspended for two years with rehabilitation for 35 days, a seven year Sexual Offence’s Prevention Order limiting his use of the Internet, and ordered to register as a sex offender for seven years.
He pleaded guilty to three charges of making indecent images of a child between October 2010 and October 2015.
