Plymouth pervert jailed for sex abuse of primary school girl – driving her to overdose
A pervert has been jailed for sexually assaulting a young girl – driving her to take an overdose and self-harm.
The victim told a court in a heartbreaking statement that she had begged her mum to “let her die” because of the abuse at the hands of Damian Pritchard.
The victim had also been raped by two other men at other points in her life, Plymouth Crown Court heard.
Pritchard, aged 33, finally faced justice when the woman found the courage to contact the police last year.
Judge Paul Darlow sentenced him to three years and nine months
Pritchard, of Alexandra Road in Mutley, admitted five counts of indecent assault, one of gross indecency and one of attempting to have intercourse with a girl aged under 13.
The indecent assault charges are specimen counts, meaning they happened on several occasions.

Damian Pritchard was due to go on trial today after pleading not guilty to seven counts of assault on the girl between 1998 and 2000.
But shortly after the jury was sworn in, he changed his plea to guilty on all seven counts he was facing.
Pritchard, 33, admitted to indecently assaulting the young girl as well as attempting to have sex with her.
Some of the acts included Pritchard touching the girl and getting her to perform sexual acts on him.
