Man jailed indefinitely for rape of girl, 16

A PUB regular who raped a schoolgirl after they sent text messages to each other was given an indefinite jail sentence yesterday.

Craig Davies, 26, and the 16-year-old girl swapped mobile phone numbers in a pub and exchanged text messages before he invited her to a party.

The court heard she agreed to have sex with him after the party, but then changed her mind about carrying on.

Prosecutor Peter Davies told Cardiff Crown Court, “They went to a party together and at the end of the evening he invited her back to his house. They went to his room and began kissing. He undressed her and they had consensual sex.”

The court heard he then slapped her in the face and called her a “slut”.

The girl told the jury, “Almost as soon as we started having sex I was having second thoughts and wishing I could go home.

“Then he started slapping me. He was being very aggressive and I said I wanted him to stop. I kept saying no but he carried on anyway.”

The court heard the girl was admitted to hospital the following day with severe internal injuries and did not recover fully for months.

Davies, who denied rape and claimed sex was consensual, was found guilty and given an indeterminate sentence and told he must spend at least five years behind bars.

Judge David Aubrey told him, “You are a powerfully built 14-stone man and she was a very small size eight… The three consultants who dealt with her considered her internal injuries to be extraordinary. They had never seen anything like it.”

Davies, from Barry, was ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
