Model train maker jailed after being caught with 300,000 indecent images of children
A model train maker has been jailed for three years after being caught with almost 300,000 indecent images of children.
Bryan Jones, who admitted being sexually attracted to young girls, downloaded the huge haul of pictures over a nine year period, Birmingham Crown Court heard.
Police swooped on his home in Mayall Drive in Sutton Coldfield on January 18 following information that he had been accessing the images.
A laptop and phone were seized and an investigation revealed he had been using file sharing software which meant the pictures would have been available to others if they wanted to see them.
When quizzed Jones, 45, said he was “sexually inclined” to young girls aged around 12 and that he got sexual gratification from looking at the images.
Gary Cook, prosecuting, said there were both still and moving images covering all categories of seriousness and some of the victims were in “clear distress.”
He said the offending had been over a protracted period and there had been a deliberate searching for the images as well as a system for cataloguing them.
Mr Cook added that some of the victims were very young.
Jones had previously admitted three charges of making indecent images and one of possessing prohibited images.
Judge Murray Creed, also ordered Jones to register as a sex offender for life.
He said there were a number of aggravating factors including the “large number of victims” and the fact that there were over 250,000 photos in one of the categories.
