Sex attack pensioner (77) believes he will die in prison

A pensioner has been jailed for six years, eight months at Cardiff Crown Court for carrying out a series of sex attacks and possessing child sexual abuse images

Haydn Golding’s solicitor, Giles Hayes, told the court: “He believes he will die in prison.”

Golding, 77, of Nolton Street, Bridgend had admitted three charges of possessing indecent pictures of children, pleaded guilty to three charges of indecent assault, and one of indecency.

Judge Stephen Hopkins said some of the indecent images were “appalling”.

He added: “ Any normal person would find them disgusting and nauseating.”

He said the discovery of those pictures led to Golding’s past criminal behaviour being revealed.

Prosecutor Julian Greenwood said: “The indecent images were discovered when Golding lived in Maesteg.

“As a result, there were further investigations and the police found Golding had been involved in historic sexual abuse matters.”

Regarding the images, Mr Greenwood said: “He fully co-operated with the police and told them:? ‘Yes, I know what you are talking about. It is on a laptop downstairs. My wife doesn’t know anything about it or how to switch it on.’”

Mr Greenwood said there were class A images on it, the most serious, showing the rape & torture of young children

The victim said she had been scared at what occurred and in an impact statement, added: “The abuse has had a profound effect on me.

“It has affected my confidence.”

Judge Hopkins said the assaults had had a marked effect on the victim’s life and

He made a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and directed that Golding register as a sex offender for life.
