Teenager from Kilmarnock caught with dozens of indecent images of children
A teenager has admitted having dozens of indecent images of children.
Jack Moran, 18, of Kilmarnock, pleaded guilty to downloading and possessing indecent images between September 2011 and December last year.
Scott Toal, prosecuting, told Kilmarnock Sheriff Court that police received information about Moran’s suspicious behaviour on Skype.
They went to the house, where Moran lives with his parents, around 8am on November 29, with a search warrant.
Items were seized from the accused’s bedroom including a laptop computer which “was found to contain indecent images”.
Interviewed at Kilmarnock police station, he replied ‘no comment’ to all questions.
A forensic examination of the laptop revealed 138 still and moving images of children. The images featured children aged between four and 16.
One, at the highest category, showed two boys aged around 10 engaged in sexual activity.
Mr Toal said that the images were downloaded rather than taken by Moran himself.
Police also found Skype conversation which “suggests contact of a sexual nature”.
Sentence was deferred until September 29 for a criminal justice social work report, a restriction of liberty order and a risk assessment.
Sheriff Alistair Watson told Moran: “I clearly need to know more about you and have some form of risk assessment carried out.”
Bail was continued and Moran was placed on the sex offenders’ register.
