Married Harley Street sex therapist caged for raping schoolboy, 14

A married sex therapist who stalked a 14-year-old schoolboy into a leisure centre toilet cubicle and raped him – has been jailed for 17 years.

Harley Street shrink Nicholas Gully, 48, of Eley Crescent, Rottingdean “deliberately targeted” the young boy

The 48-year-old preyed on the 14-year-old after spotting him in the communal area at Hove’s King Alfred Leisure Centre’s reception as the boy waited for his mother to collect him.

Gully then pretended to be on the phone, calling the boy “sexy”.

Spooked, the boy hid in the cubicle, where Gully pounced on him.

Gully was convicted of raping the boy and two other sexual assaults against him.

The former therapist will be registered as a sex offender for life and was given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) severely restricting his access to children under 16.

Gully must serve a minimum of 11 years, with the final six potentially being served on prison release license.

Judge Henson condemned Gully’s decision to not submit a DNA sample when he was arrested on January 31, saying it was a “step to try and avoid justice”.

The court heard that father of two Gully had arranged to leave the UK for a new life in Thailand just two days after raping the schoolboy.

Speaking at Hove Crown Court, the boy’s mother slammed Gully as a “serious sexual predator” who would have been a “serious threat” to other young people if he was not detained.

She said: “What started off as a perfectly normal Sunday, with my son attending the leisure centre having newly acquired membership on turning 14, turned into every parent’s worst nightmare.

“The unimaginable events that took place that day with him being deliberately targeted and attacked by a serious sexual predator whilst waiting for a lift home from me have had devastating consequences for my son and close family.

“He has had to come to terms with what has happened to him and also deal with the police investigation and trial.”
