Judge brands Luton man “wholly despicable” as he is jailed for 20 years

A Luton man has been jailed for 20 years for sexually abusing a girl, after a Judge told him that his behaviour was “wholly despicable…”

Luton Crown Court heard how 61-year-old Delroy Henton abused the girl when she was aged between 10 and 14.
She confided in a friend and the police were called after she spoke to her head teacher.

Henton was convicted of three counts of rape, assault by penetration and sexual activity with a child. He was of previous good character.

Judge Michael Kay QC told him: “This is a persistence long course of serious offending against a child. It is wholly despicable. You  exploited and groomed a child for your own sexual interest.”

Henton must register as a sex offender for life.
