A paedophile has been jailed after our investigation revealed he’d abused a young girl and amassed a catalogue of up to 60,000 indecent child images.
Officers raided the home of Paul Piper in Monyhull Hall, Birmingham, on 12 July last year and found the stash of shocking digital photographs, plus indecent videos of youngsters, stored on a hard-drive.
Examination of his phone also uncovered WhatsApp exchanges in which he spoke of sexually assaulting a young girl – and in one message he promised to send a woman images if he could get the youngster to “reveal some flesh”.
Detectives identified the victim, a girl of junior school age, and while speaking to specially trained Public Protection officers she disclosed how Piper had sexually assaulted her after taking down her leggings.
The 53-year-old admitted downloading and distributing indecent images – saying he was “bored” and stumbled across them while surfing the net – and two counts of sexual assault.
He’s been jailed for five years and three months; he was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life.
