Pervert pensioner caught with sick images of children he collected over 9 years
A perverted pensioner was caught with a sick stash of indecent images of children in his North Shields home.
George Hope had collected the vile pictures over nine years between 2007 and 2016 but was finally found out when police searched his flat.
Officers discovered more than 30 of the explicit photos – including 13 of the most serious kind, Category A, that involve penetrative sexual activity – on the 71-year-old’s two laptops, prosecutors said.
Now, Hope, of North Shields, is facing a possible jail sentence after pleading guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children.
Rebecca Laverick, prosecuting at North Tyneside Magistrates’ Court, said: “The offences came to light when police executed a search warrant following information that the defendant’s address had been used to access indecent images using an online file sharing software.
“Two laptops were seized at the address. When examined, the indecent images were found on them.”
Magistrates ordered Pre-Sentence reports but warned Hope they hadn’t ruled out sending him to prison or to Newcastle Crown Court for sentence.
He was released on unconditional bail to next appear on November 2.
