Pervert from Shepton Mallet found guilty of rape and sexual assault
A Somerset man who was accused of rape and sexual assault of a child, committed at a caravan park, has been found guilty.
Michael James Williams, 59, of Cornwall Road, Shepton Mallet originally appeared at Somerset Magistrates Court in Yeovil charged with the offences which are said to have taken place at a caravan park
He was charged that at the caravan park, he raped a woman aged 16 or over.
He was further alleged to have sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl involving penetration, and also intentionally touched a 15-year-old girl in a sexual manner when she did not consent.
He denied all charges against him.
Appearing at Taunton Crown Court on October 13, he was convicted of these offences by a jury and sentenced to seven years in prison and was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life.
He was also ordered never to work with children again and was issued with a restraining order.
