Teenager avoids a custodial sentence for raping a young boy

A teenager has avoided a custodial sentence after being found guilty of serious sexual offences including rape against an 11-year-old boy

Jason Webber, 16 of Tawstock, Barnstaple appeared at Exeter Magistrates Court where he denied but was eventually found guilty of:

  • Two counts of rape against a male child aged under 13

  • Three counts of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a child aged under 13

The court was told that the abuse began when the boy was aged 11-years-old and continued over a period of two years

Manipulative and devious Webber forced the young boy into depraved sexual acts and by using violence during the rapes in an attempt to enforce his victims silence

Webber was told that he must register as a sex offender for five years and an order was put in place to restrict his contact with any child aged under 18

He was also ordered to complete a number of hours of unpaid work
