Child rapist sentenced

Paedophile Ivan Keeling has been jailed for 16 years after being convicted of raping and sexually abusing a schoolgirl.

The pervert pensioner groomed the young girl before subjecting her to a ‘campaign of abuse’ over an eight-year period.

Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard the 71-year-old plied his victim with money, cigarettes, alcohol and chocolates before sexually assaulting and raping her.

The victim has been left psychologically affected by the abuse.

Keeling, of Hammersley Hayes Road, Cheadle, denied sexual assault of a child under 13; rape of a child under 13; and two offences of sexual activity with a child. But he was found guilty of all the offences after a trial this week.

Judge David Fletcher has placed Keeling on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely.
