Luton man jailed for 14 years for sexual abuse committed in the 1990s
A 71-year-old man from Luton has been handed a 14-year prison sentence after being pleading guilty to five counts of child sexual offences dating back more than 20 years.
Derek Cooper, of Wellington Street, was sentenced on Friday (23 November) at Luton Crown Court for sexually abusing a boy over five years in the 1990s.
The abuse started when the victim was only eight years old.
An investigation was launched after the victim found the courage to come forward, and Cooper was subsequently arrested and charged, before pleading guilty to two counts of gross indecency with a boy under the age of 14 and three counts of indecent assault on a boy under the age of 14.
He also pleaded guilty to breaching a sexual harm prevention order.
