Convicted sex offender masqueraded as paedophile hunter on Facebook
A convicted sex offender who masqueraded as a paedophile hunter on Facebook has been sentenced for further sexual offences
Jamie Baldwin appeared at Worcester Crown Court where he admitted grooming a child
The court heard that Baldwin set up a Facebook page under the guise of a paedophile hunting team called ‘Guardians Of The Innocent’. He also stated his occupation as a medic, which later turned out to also be fake
Baldwin who used the alias Jamie Founder lied and tricked others to join him into setting up a team that would catch sex offenders who target children online.
However, unbeknown to those in the team, Baldwin was already a convicted sex offender with a previous conviction for the possession of indecent images of children.
But in a sinister twist, he used his position as a paedophile hunter to contact multiple underage girls online with the clear intent of engaging them into sexual activity.
Baldwin made sexual advances to one girl who was aged under 16.
It was only after that girl came forward that other hunting teams investigated Baldwin and discovered his past. Those teams contacted police who arrested him and retrieved damning evidence of his online activity
Baldwin was charged with five offences which included:
Sexual communication with a female child
Engaging or inciting a child into sexual activity
