A pensioner has been jailed for 14 years after sexually abusing a girl as young as 11.
Paedophile Barry Wrightson, 79, raped one of his victims twice and threatened to kill her if she told anyone.
He also sexually assaulted a second girl, with both victims now suffering health problems as a result of what happened to them.
Judge Mark Bury said of the rape of one of the girls: ‘That’s unforgivable. ‘Worse than that, you told her that, if she told anybody, you would kill her.’
He added: ‘The fact that she couldn’t tell anybody and didn’t tell anybody has had a significant effect upon her health.’
The judge told the defendant ‘your chickens have come home to roost’ after he was jailed.
A woman involved in the case said it was ‘heartbreaking’ to see the victims suffer further pain after having to go to court.
Wrightson, from Lincoln, was convicted by a jury at Grimsby Crown Court of two offences of rape and six others including sexual assault, sexual activity with a child and causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
He was cleared of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child and had denied all charges.
Wrightson will have to register as a sex offender for life. Several of the offences happened in the Grimsby area.
