Barrister admits child sex abuse photo and video charges

The career and reputation of a leading and prominent court room barrister are in ruins after he pleaded guilty to downloading images of child sexual abuse.

At the height of his career as a barrister, Jonathan Lowry, who celebrates his 60th birthday this Thursday, worked on a range of criminal cases including prosecuting sex offenders and paedophiles

Ironically in one case, he demanded the maximum sentence.

But the veteran lawyer is now on the wrong side of the law, awaiting sentence after his admitting a string of charges.

Lowry’s address on court papers is given as Holyrood Manor in the Malone Road area in the south of Belfast, however, the property is currently listed for rent.

The charges relate to making two indecent videos of children

Lowry also admitted possessing extreme pornographic images, and attempting to possess an indecent image of a child
