Wallsend dad found with stash of sick images of kids and extreme porn at family home

A married dad is facing a possible prison sentence after police found a stash of sick images of children and extreme porn on a laptop at the family home.

Paul Riding downloaded the vile haul of pictures and videos over a seven year period but claimed he did so out of curiosity as he ‘didn’t have a sex life’.

North Tyneside Magistrates’ Court was told that the illegal collection was eventually discovered when officers executed a search warrant at the 56-year-old’s Wallsend home, which he was sharing with his wife and children.

Riding’s Samsung laptop was seized and more than 400 disgusting images and videos were found.

Now, Riding, of Suffolk Gardens, Wallsend, is facing a possible stint behind bars after he pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of a child and one is possessing extreme porn.

Prosecutor, Glenda Beck, said the photos and videos had been downloaded between August 13 2011 and May 4 2018.

She added: “On May 3 2018, police executed a search warrant at the defendant’s home address where he lives with his wife and children.

“Devices capable of accessing the internet were seized and a Samsung laptop was examined, which showed a total of 407 indecent images of children and videos.”

The court heard that of the 407, 21 were of category A, the most serious kind involving penetration, 21 were category B and 364 were category C.

Two extreme porn videos involving a woman and a dog were also discovered on Riding’s laptop.

Mrs Beck continued: “The defendant was interviewed at Middle Engine Lane Police Station. He said he had been stupid, he didn’t really have a sex life at home and had been using porn and chat sites.

“He said he had a look at the indecent images out of curiosity.”

The court heard that Riding claimed he had “made a huge mistake” and has been “very silly” and got himself involved in something he shouldn’t.

Granting him unconditional bail, the judge added: “These offences are so serious, I can’t deal with them at this court.

“So, you will be sent to Newcastle Crown Court to be depart with there on August 25.

“In the meantime, a pre-sentence report will be prepared.”
