Man photographed himself sexually abusing a two-year-old girl
A man who photographed himself sexually abusing a child has been jailed for five years.
Kevin Philip Rhodes took pictures of a toddler, naked from the waist down – including one which showed his fingers near her genitals.
The 35-year-old of Beryl Avenue, Hinkley, Leicester appeared at Mold Crown Court via video link from HMP Berwyn this morning after being found guilty of sexual assault by touching and taking an indecent photo of a child.
A victim impact statement read to the court from the child’s mother said she was “deeply affected by what happened” to her daughter when Rhodes was living in North Wales.
She said she “wakes up and night, worries and is anxious about being able to process properly what has happened” and fears she may have a nervous breakdown.
The pervert also had a previous conviction 21 years ago when he was 14 when he indecently assaulted two little girls – including one who was under the age of four.
Judge Niclas Parry told him: “You are to be sentenced having been convicted by a jury for what can only be described as depraved conduct involving the sexual abuse of a two-year-old female.”
The judge said the incident fitted into the most serious category because of the abuse of trust and because he recorded and retained the images.
Considering the risk to the public and Rhodes’ history, he said he “posed a high risk of harm to children”.
He was sentenced to five years in custody of which he will serve half before being released on licence.
He was also subjected to a sexual harm prevention order and ordered to have no unsupervised contact with any child under the age of 16.
