Man, 33, jailed for horrendous crime against child

A former Grimsby businessman has been locked up for sexually assaulting a 12 year-old girl

Michael Taylor, of Cleethorpes, denied a charge of sexually touching a child under the age of 13 in Tattershall in August 2018.

Taylor’s refusal to admit guilt meant he put the young victim through a full trial

However, the 33-year-old was found guilty by a jury of the offence and was sentenced at Lincoln Crown Court on Friday, September 25.

Taylor, who was a former director of Grimsby Sunblinds was given two years in prison and placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years.

After the hearing, the mother of the victim described the emotional and physical impact the incident had on her daughter.

“It has damaged her confidence and she still has panic attacks. She feared ever going out because she was worried she might see his car.

“She has lost a lot of weight and it has affected her progress at school,” the mother said.

She added: “I have noticed a massive decline in my daughter. I felt helpless because I could not repair the damage it has caused her. We could not go out because we were worried he might be there. But now we can go out and try to rebuild our lives.”
