Paedophile St Agnes ex-builder who searched for sick terms avoids jail

An ex-builder caught with hundreds of indecent images of children also used the web to search for sick beastiality terms such as ‘best animal vagina’.

Stewart Bennett, 59, had images showing children as young as six months old being abused.

Bennett, of Trevellas, St Agnes, appeared at Truro Crown Court for sentencing having admitted three charges of possessing indecent images of children and extreme pornography.

Prosecuting the case, Bathsheba Cassel told the court how police executed a search at Bennett’s house in July 2018.

They seized a number of electronic devices which were found to contain 143 Category A images, 66 Category B and 13 Category C as well as extreme pornography.

The children involved in the abuse were as young as six months and Bennett used the internet to search terms such as ‘best animal vagina’ and other terms related to child abuse images.

He was also found to have accessed child abuse websites.

Sentencing Bennett, Judge Carr said: “Children as young as six months would not be being raped if it weren’t for you. Children are raped because you create the business.”

Bennett was sentenced to eight months in prison, suspended for two years to ensure he completes a rehabilitation activity requirement to address his offending.

He was also made subject of a three month 7pm to 7am curfew and must sign the sex offenders’ register.
