Pervert jailed over ‘very inappropriate comments’ to two schoolgirls

A man who made lewd comments to two teenage schoolgirls in a Lincoln street while he had his hand down his trousers has been jailed for 16 months.

Carl Potter, 33, initially approached one teenage school pupil, whom he did not know, in Monks Road and made several deeply inappropriate sexual comments.

The girl was then joined by a friend, who witnessed the same comments. Police said Potter is believed to have had his hand in his trousers while he was speaking to the girls.

The incident, which took place at around 7.30am on November 25, last year, was reported and Potter was later arrested.

Potter, of no fixed address at the time of his arrest, denied a charge of sexual communications with a child but was found guilty at Lincoln Crown Court.

He was sentenced to 12 months for the sexual communications charge and a further four months for breaching a suspended sentence for a previous stalking offence.

He was placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for 10 years and has an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which will supercede the 10-year period.

Potter had been on remand since his arrest.
