Pervert caught with thousands of images depicting the sexual abuse of children and babies
Paedophile Martin Holdway has been jailed after being caught with thousands of images depicting the sexual abuse of children and babies.
Between October 2018 and July 2019, police seized a number of devices, including a USB keyring and laptops, from the 39-year-old’s Normacot home, on which they discovered more than 5,700 indecent images of youngsters.
Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard many of the images were found to show children between the ages of one and 14, with most under 10 years old, dressed in swimwear, underwear or nappies.
Officers also found 1,647 prohibited images of children, as well as more than 700 search queries on the devices containing key words related to the sexual abuse of children.
During his interactions with the police, Holdway showed an initial reluctance to co-operate and hand over his phones, before relenting.
This put him in breach of a civil sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) imposed in 2017, which banned him from having certain electronic devices and deleting his search history.
In May this year, Holdway was charged with five counts of making indecent photographs of a child and one count of possessing prohibited images of children. He pleaded guilty to these charges.
But despite being subject to court hearings regarding his offending, Holdway continued to defy the SHPO, with the latest breach in September – just two weeks after his last appearance in the dock.
Now, following his guilty plea to the offences and his persistent breaching of the SHPO, Holdway has been sentenced to a total of two years in prison.
Judge Hancox also imposed a criminal sexual harm prevention order, which will remain in force for 10 years, and placed on the sex offenders’ register for the same length of time
She ordered all seized devices to be destroyed. Holdway must also pay a statutory surcharge.
