Sex beast jailed after choking and raping two terrified lovers

A martial arts fan is behind bars after choking and raping two terrified lovers.

John Grant, 36, even attacked one of the women after their first date.

Jurors heard how he also showed the same victim a video of him apparently having sex with a sleeping woman.

Grant denied the accusations during a trial at the High Court in Glasgow.

But, was found guilty of nine charges detailing the repeated rape of both women.

Grant, of Airdrie, Lanarkshire, was remanded in custody. He will return to the dock next month.

The crimes spanned between 2013 and 2017.

Grant met the first victim at a Glasgow nightclub. They later went on a first date to the city’s Necropolis, where they drank Prosecco.

But, in a car journey back from there, the rapist first struck.

Despite what happened, the young woman continued to see Grant.

However, she repeatedly suffered at his hands again mainly at a flat in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire.

This included him ‘restricting her breathing’, causing her to lose consciousness as well as attacking her while she was asleep and unable to consent to sex.

The woman ended up being so scared of Grant, she locked herself in a bathroom while clutching a razor.

Grant got in touch with the second victim via Facebook. They were both involved at the time with the local music scene.

He pestered to see her and they eventually met a flat in Paisley, Renfrewshire.

Grant went on to repeatedly attack this woman in a similar way.

He gave evidence during the trial and admitted being trained in mixed martial arts.

Prosecutor Erin Campbell quizzed him about the sport and asked him about a method used in fighting called ‘choking out’.

He denied doing this with the women.

Grant: “There is a difference between MMA choking out and an erotic style role play situation.”

Miss Campbell also recalled the first woman being forced to hide from him.

The advocate depute: “The reason she was feeling so low was because you were controlling and abusing her as well as sexually assaulting her – what do you say?” Grant replied: “No.”

He also insisted it was ‘completely ridiculous’ he had shown her a video of him having sex with another woman.

Quizzed about the second victim, Grant said: “When I met her, her rape fantasy was to be drugged unconscious and this was something that turned her on and she asked me many times.”

Judge Graeme Buchanan deferred sentencing for reports.
