Mark Aspin and Debbie Pickersgill sentenced to total of 30 years
Mark Aspin and Debbie Pickersgill have been sentenced to a total of 30 years for a huge number of sickening sex crimes against children.
Aspin will serve 27 years while Pickersgill will serve three
On Friday, December 4, Aspin, 44, of Endeavour Crescent, was found guilty of 22 offences following a trial at Grimsby Crown Court.
– Two counts of child cruelty
– One count of sexual activity with a child
– Two counts of rape of a child under the age of 13
– Seven counts of rape of a child under the age of 16
– Six counts of rape of a child over the age of 16
– One count of attempted rape
– Three counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity
He had already pleaded guilty to one count of sexual activity with a child.
His partner, Debbie Pickersgill, 46, of Buckingham Street, was found guilty of three counts of sexual activity with a child.
She was found not guilty of one count of sexual activity with a child as the jury found she was under duress from Aspin at the time of the incident.
During the trial, the court heard how sick paedophile Aspin groomed and abused three teenage girls.
One told how she was just 11 when she was first raped by Aspin and two others said they were 13.
As well as carrying out the violent rapes, Aspin also roped in Pickersgill to participate in group sex with two of his young victims.
In one incident, the paedophile raped a girl until she passed out while his partner watched
The couple kept their dark and evil secret from the outside world, with their crimes only coming to light in April this year when two of the victims reported them to police.
They have been sentenced at Grimsby Crown Court this afternoon by Judge Ahmed Nadim.
The judge said: “The victims can hold their heads high in the knowledge that their statements have been taken into account and have profoundly influenced the sentencing approach of the court.”
Mark Aspin jailed for 27 years ——
He said: “To reflect you have utterly blighted the childhoods of three girls, the after effects that continue to be felt and will be felt after today while healing takes place.”
Judge Nadim said: “You will serve at least 13 and a half years in prison before the reference to the Parole Board takes place.
“At whatever point you are released, you will then serve the remainder of the custodial sentence and a licence period of one year under the probation service.”
Pickersgill jailed for three years ——
The judge said: “You must serve 18 months in custody, less any time you have served on remand.”
The judge said: “You joined in the sexual activity you were asked to engage in for his pleasure.
“The starting point is four years imprisonment but that is in relation to a single offence. In your case I am dealing with five such incidents.
“The least sentence that is appropriate for your behaviour is six years in custody. I must consider the facts that mitigate your offending. The prosecution accepted the case on the basis that you were subjected to the kind of violence that would ordinarily come under duress.
“You were convicted upon the jury concluding that you failed to report matters to persons in authority or in your life who would have helped you to disengage from the situation you found yourself in.
“The situation does not rest there. I note that you were entirely honest with the jury in terms of what you know or knew of at the time and you declared all, even though some of that evidence served to undermine your particular position.
“Your evidence provided a clear picture of the events that were taking place during the period while your partner was abusing three children. That serves to mitigate your sentence.”
