Pervert who turned up to meet ’14-year-old’ girl for sex in Sunderland snared by paedophile hunters
Pervert Stephen Jones turned up to meet what he thought was a 14-year-old girl for sex after grooming her.
Jones thought Holly was a genuine schoolgirl when he asked her to strip, sent a picture of his genitals, discussed having sex and arranged to meet her
But when he turned up, he was confronted by paedophile hunters Dark Justice, who were behind the decoy profile.
Now Jones, 54, who admitted attempting to meet a girl under 16 following grooming with intent to commit sexual activity with a child, has been given a suspended prison sentence at Newcastle Crown Court.
John Hobley, prosecuting, said it was in February this year that the Holly profile was set up on the “Fast Flirting” app and in March, it was contacted by Jones.
Mr Hobley said: “The Holly account identified herself as 14 in the first reply, after which the conversation moved to WhatsApp.
“Holly identified herself as 14 again and three messages later, Jones asked if she wanted (a picture of his genitals) and he went on to ask if she wanted to have sex.
“When Holly asked if it was okay that she was 14, he said ‘of course hun’.”
Jones offered to send a picture of his genitals and asked if she wanted to have sex.
He also asked if she would strip for him, asked what size her breasts were and discussed a sex act before sending a picture of his genitals.
They arranged to meet at University station, Sunderlandand he said she could stay the night at his house.
He went to the station, where he was confronted by Dark Justice.
The court heard Jones only had one previous conviction, for an unrelated offence from 2008.
He was sentenced to 16 months, suspended for two years, with an alcohol rehabilitation requirement for six months and he must sign the sex offenders register and be subject to a sexual harm prevention order for ten years.
