Pervert caught by paedophile hunting team
A pervert has been handed a community order after he turned up to meet some he believed was a child following sexual grooming
Alan Smith of Andover appeared at Winchester Crown Court where he admitted one count of an adult attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming
The court was told that Smith had contacted the online profile of someone he believed was a child. He went on to send sexually explicit messages with the full intent of engaging the child into sexual activity.
Smith arranged to meet the child, but was shocked when instead of the child, he was confronted by members of paedophile hunting team ‘Shadow Hunters UK’
The team questioned Smith on his internet activity, before ringing the police who in turn arrested Smith.
The judge sentenced Smith to:
Two year community order
Five year sexual harm prevention order
To register as a sex offender for five years
