Dangerous paedophile jailed for 11 years

A dangerous paedophile has been jailed for sexually abusing three girls.

Neil Dewar, 50, subjected his victims to multiple sexual assaults committed to satisfy his ‘warped’ desires, Exeter Crown Court was told.

He admitted 17 sexual assaults against children aged as young as six and was jailed for eleven years.

The offences came to light when one of the children told her parents what had happened.

Judge Peter Johnson said: “Your offending has placed enormous strain on your victims who were terrified of the consequences of revealing what you had done.

“What you’ve done will permanently affect these three young people and you have permanently scarred their childhoods.

“The offences were repeated and involved the use of grooming.”

Prosecutor Mr Piers Nosworthy told the courts the offences came to light when one of the girls revealed Dewar had assaulted her.

Once police started to investigate, the other victims told detectives what had happened to them. The offending had happened on multiple occasions and over a number of years.

Judge Johnson said it was clear Dewar had a ‘warped’ view of the world.

Judge Johnson said : “In my view you are presently dangerous and pose a serious risk of further harm.”

Dewar, of Clayhidon, Cullompton, was given an extra four years as part of an extended sentence.

He was put on the sex offenders’ register for life and made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order restricting his access to children.
