Sports Direct worker arrested in store after girlfriend finds sex texts to ‘child’
A Sports Direct worker was arrested at work after his girlfriend found vile sex messages to a ‘child’ on his phone.
Pervert Rian O’Neill thought he had contacted a 12-year-old girl called Ellie on messaging app Kik, but it was a decoy account being run by ‘Caz Solo Elizabeth’
He then bombarded the account with graphic pictures and messages included snaps of his genitals and topless images.
Instead of blocking Ellie when she said she was 12, O’Neill embarked on a sordid series of messages between March 5 and April 13 2019
He even asked the youngster if she would like to lose her virginity and to imagine him having sex with her.
Alec Burns, prosecuting, told Newcastle Crown Court : “He asked if she would like to have sex for the first time and said he would touch her.
“He asked if she wanted to lose her virginity.
“He asked her to imagine him ******* her.””
On April 15, the woman running the profile got a text from a woman saying she was O’Neill’s girlfriend and had found the phone he had used to message Ellie, which was not his main phone. He had also been messaging other women.
Mr Burns said: “He was arrested at work at Sports Direct on Northumberland Street.”
O’Neill, 24,of Simonside Crescent, Morpeth, pleaded guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.
Judge Julie Clemitson sentenced him to 34 weeks suspended for two years with a four-month curfew between 7pm and 6am.
He must also do a sex offenders group work programme, sign the sex offenders register and be subject to a sexual harm prevention order for ten years.
