Pervert caught by paedophile hunting team

A pervert has been sentenced to almost nine years in prison after he was caught by paedophile hunting team ‘Innocent Voices’

Simon Hook of Bishop’s Stortford appeared at Luton Crown Court where he admitted:

  • Attempting to incite a child into sexual activity

  • Attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming

The court was told that Hook had contacted the online profile of someone he believed was a 14-year-old girl.

Hook went on to send a number of sexually explicit messages with the intent of grooming the girl for sexual purposes.

He arranged to meet the child on the 23rd November, 2020.

When he turned up at the meeting point, Hook was confronted by a paedophile hunting team. He panicked and drove his car straight into one of the teams security members car, injuring a member inside, and writing off the car.

Hook then reversed into another members car before making his getaway at high speed.

The team informed police and they arrested Hook later that night.

Hook was sentenced to a total of eight years and nine months in prison

He was told that he must register as a sex offender for life and an indefinite sexual prevention order was put in place
