Pitsea man filmed indecent video of girl and had 2,000 child sexual abuse pics
A paedophile has been spared jail after filming an indecent video of a young girl.
Richard Sharp took the indecent photo of a child and was also found in possession of nearly 2,000 other indecent images.
The 34-year-old of Stokefelde, Pitsea had his home raided by police on February 3, 2019 and had several electronic devices seized.
Not all devices could be examined, but on the ones that could, a total of 1,178 category A images were found – the most serious kind – and 377 category B, and 339 category C.
There were also two extreme pornographic images and 247 prohibited images.
Sharp admitted three counts of making indecent images of children, possessing extreme pornography and prohibited images and taking the one indecent video of the girl.
At Basildon Crown Court on Friday, Oliver Kirk, prosecuting, told the court that Sharp had begun the video by filming himself before then filming his victim, who was aged under 13 at the time and in the same room as him.
It was not disclosed when the video had been recorded.
Mr Kirk said: “That child has been spoken to and no other offences are disclosed.”
Judge Samantha Leigh told Sharp that his offending was very serious.
She said: “The first three are in relation to downloading material off of the internet.
“The last and most serious is that you took a photograph of the girl.”
Judge Leigh gave Sharp a suspended two-year prison sentence.
He must carry out 60 hours of rehabilitation and 200 hours of unpaid work.
He must also complete the Horizon programme for sexual offenders and was made subject of a ten year sexual harm prevention order.
Judge Leigh added: “If you don’t comply you will go straight into custody.”
