Pervert “stole girl’s childhood”

A pervert “stole a girl’s childhood” after having sex with her when she was under 16

Jamie Parker has been jailed for four years for sexual activity with a child

The 35-year-old, of Sturrocks, Basildon, admitted to engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a child.

He was jailed at Basildon Crown Court yesterday.

The incident took place in south Essex and took place over a five-year period

The court heard that Parker “took advantage” of the victim before the sexual activity took place.

Lambasting him in the dock, Recorder Claire Davies told Parker: “It is right she had mental health difficulties at the time.

“I have no doubt that you hoped your offences never came to light.

“You knew what you were doing was wrong.

“Then years later is when they came to light.”

In a victim impact statement read out by prosecuting barrister Kate Davey, the effects of his offending were clear on Parker’s victim.

The victim said: “I have suffered with anxiety, emotional distress and depression.

“It’s impossible to form any kind of emotional attachment, and I have been in unhealthy relationships.”

The victim added: “He stole my childhood and because of Jamie Parker, I can’t trust anyone.”

Parker was also handed a restraining order until further notice against the victim
