Mashiur Rahman jailed for sex attack in Tunbridge Wells

A man who attacked a teenager in Tunbridge Wells and subjected her to a serious sexual assault has today been jailed for more than five years.

Mushiur Rahman, 35, targeted the girl after he saw her sitting alone on a bench last year.

He sat down next to her and tried to kiss her. But when she attempted to move away, he grabbed and sexually assaulted her.

It happened on Tonbridge Wells Common near Castle Road last November and the girl managed to flee and stop a passer-by who called the police.

A police investigation led to the recovery of DNA which identified Rahman as the offender. He was arrested on December 1 and initially denied any wrongdoing.

But he later pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court to charges of assault by penetration and sexual assault

He was sentenced today to five years and four months.
