Pervert got underage boy to grope him in park

A Derbyshire father-of-two talked an underage schoolboy into touching him sexually has been jailed

Derby Crown Court heard how Robert Gooderham took the boy into a park and committed the offence.

Hours later he sent the schoolboy a message saying what else he would like him to do sexually but then asked him to delete it.

The 42-year-old’s victim confided in a friend what happened and was talked into calling the police.

Jailing the defendant for 18 months, Judge Robert Egbuna said: “He was clearly under the influence of alcohol and you would have been aware of that.

“He was deserving of your protection from any sexual activity but it appears you showed an interest in him.

“This is serious offending, there was a clear disparity in age between you.”

Esther Harrison, prosecuting, said Gooderham had been talking to the boy in December 2018 and knew he had been drinking alcohol.

Miss Harrison said the pair began to walk and the defendant and the teenager ended up in a nearby park.

She said: “There he got the boy to sexually touch him.

“The next morning he sent him a message saying what else he would like the boy to do to him.

“He then asked him not to tell anyone and to delete the message saying he felt bad because he had been drunk.”

She said Gooderham was arrested and answered “no comment” to the questions he was asked.

But the defendant, of Welbeck Street, Creswell, pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a child and sexual communication with a child.

He has one previous conviction for arson, from 2014.

As well as the jail sentence he was handed a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and was placed on the sex offender register for 10 years.
