Man sexually assaulted girls more than 50 years apart

A pensioner faces jail for sexually abusing two girls more than 50 years apart.

Stuart Ferguson, aged 70, has admitted offences starting in 1964 and ending in 2019.

He was only 14 himself at the time of the first abuse

Ferguson, of Week Street in Maidstone in Kent, pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent assault against a child between 1964 and 1970.

He admitted another offence of indecency with a child over the same period.

Ferguson also pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual assault of a second girl between 2017 and 2019.

The offences happened in Plymouth, another part of Devon and other areas across the country.

Ferguson pleaded not guilty to two similar offences of indecent assault on the first child in the 60s.

Emily Pitts, for the Crown Prosecution Service, said those pleas were accepted and no trial would be needed.

The barrister said that prosecution and defence still had to agree on the basic facts behind the offences.

Recorder Jo Martin adjourned sentencing until March 26 for a probation officer to prepare a report.

Ferguson was released on unconditional bail.

He has already been placed on the Sex Offender Register.
