Dunfermline creep asked girl, 13, to go home with him and said ‘age doesn’t matter’ as she played in park with pals

A pervert asked a 13-year-old girl to go back to his house – insisting “age doesn’t matter.”

Brian Brand, 34, approached the schoolgirl and her friends at a playpark in the Fife town in September 2020.

He used the retort when they told him she was underage, also insisting she looked “mature” and urging her “come on, come on”.

But the terrified teen ran away

The town’s Sheriff Court heard Brand made thet comments and suggestions to her, causing fear and alarm, and committed a breach of the peace.

Depute fiscal Laura McManus said the girl was with three friends at a park at around 7pm when they were approached by Brand.

He asked the girl what age she was and when she replied she was 13, Brand said: “Age doesn’t matter.”

The depute added: “He then told her she looked mature for her age and that she should go back to his place and go on a date with him.”

Her friends said: “She’s under age” but Brand replied: “Come on, come on.”

The four girls fled to a nearby shop and told a worker what had happened.

Cops tracked Brand down in Halbeath Road, and he claimed the girls had asked him to buy them alcohol.

Sheriff Alastair Brown decided previously that Brand’s comments could not be classed as “indecent”.

Brand also admitted separate charges of threatening to set fire to a property, acting aggressively and kicking a door repeatedly, and making threats of violence to two women.

Sheriff Alison Michie imposed a two-year drug treatment and testing order on Brand and a 45-day restriction of liberty order.
